Electronic Waste Events are to help local schools, Churches and nonprofit organization to raise funds for their organization from recyclable goods. Here's how an event works.
- We have to contract all events 30 days in advance. It's a Cal State Law.
- All events are Saturday or Sunday from 9am to 3pm.
- CalEw would handle flier printing, banners and local advertising at our discretion.
- We ask the charity to inform all their members, friends and family about the event. We also ask for at least 2 volunteers throughout the day.
- We would then on date of the event, set up 1/2 hour before the event starts.
- During the time of the event we will collect all electronic waste from drop off customers. We ask for no help with this process because of State Laws.
- During the event we ask for volunteers to collect all names, address, telephone number and emails of all drop offs. This is needed for the State of California.
- After the event, CalEw will clean all waste off the location and bring all electronic items to our local warehouse.
- Payment for the event is mail 15 business days after day of the event.
Payment is determined by weight and or items collected. Below is a breakdown. Televisions, Monitors, LCD Screens - Total Pounds Computers, Laptops - Total Pounds Toner Cartridges, Cellular Phones - Total Items Collected All Other is considered miscellaneous such as microwaves, printers, wire, plastics, old phones, calculator's, coffee pot and any other electronic item. These items have no real value, which we pay .01 per pound just to make sure they do not go into our landfills.
When you are having an electronic waste event, please remember the products are being shredded for recycling proposes, not for resale. The value or price is determined by pounds or items which are not of a large value unless there are several thousand pounds. Think, when your having an event, it's not just the amount of funds collected, it's also shows the charity cares about the environment and teaches the community about electronic waste recycling. CalEw does put funds into banners, fliers, newspapers, employees and all other business expenses are covered. We ask the charity not to spend any of their funds for the event, just word of month.
